Some time ago, I wrote five poems on the doctrines of grace (often known as the Tulip or the five points of Calvinism). The hope was to convey them in a more experiential way. I have decided to share them with you all. This is the second of five.
Mine
I knew you
Before the sun's first ray
Before creation was formed
Before the first good day
Before the worlds were born
I saw you
Beginning to end
Cradle to grave
Every sin
Cursing My Name
All of your faults
Depth of your shame
When first you would hate Me
I loved you the same
I loved you
Before love was a word
Before Adam loved Eve
I set My eye upon you
My beloved to retrieve
I chose you
Nothing within you
To merit My favor
When making My choice
I used no measure
Aside from the fact that
I've loved you forever
And why did I love you?
It was My pleasure
I chose you
My voice which spoke
Light into darkness
Made the declaration
My word of power harnessed
Echoing through
The corridors of time
Until the day of your salvation
When I whispered, “Mine.”
