"But when raw flesh appears on him, he shall be unclean. And the priest shall examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean…But if the raw flesh recovers and turns white again, then he shall come to the priest, and the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce the diseased person clean; he is clean." (Leviticus 13:14-17, ESV)
It is Christ who examines us as the great High Priest. He examines the sinner in his diseased and sinful condition. And He thus pronounces him unclean. But He offers the means by which the sinner may recover and turn white, through faith in the atonement He made for us at Calvary.
There will once again come an examination for the sinner turned saint. However, the High Priest will make the pronouncement, "This one is clean."
Friends, it may be that you have felt the weight of the Lord's pronouncement against you, "Unclean!" Go to Calvary! Go now! Bring the disease of your sin with you. Remember, the High Priest who pronounces your judgment is also the substitute who bares it for His people. Then go back, washed in His blood, for a second examination. And hear that sweet pronouncement, "Clean!"
